ES Engineering College

E.S Engineering College was set up with the sanction of the Government of Tamil Nadu and approval of All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi with the aim of offering high quality educational, research and training programmes in science, engineering, technology and management at graduate, post-graduate and doctoral levels. The college has launched out–reach programmes for the promotion of socio–economic standards of various communities through extra- mural programmes.

The College is located on National Highway (NH) 45 in Villupuram. Villupuram is the headquarters of Villupuram district and is 160 kms from the Tamil Nadu state capital of Chennai. Villupuram is just 40 kms from Puducherry,the capital of UT of Puducherry.

Category and Percentage of marks in Qualifying Examination
Open:   50%
Backward : 45%
Most Backward : 40%
SC/ST: Just pass in the examination

Candidates belonging to communities other than SC/ST should have passed the qualifying examination within two attempts.

Lateral Entry Candidates

Diploma Holders (various branches) are also eligible to II year of the four years B.E./B.Tech Degree Courses.

Community Minimum average marks in the pre final and final semesters put together or final year
General category:  55%
Backward class including Backward class muslim:  50%
MBC& DNC: 45%
SC/SCA/ST: Mere pass in the qualifying examination for diploma examinations as stipulated by the state board of technical education and training, Tamilnadu/B.sc degree examinations/equivalent.

PG Programmes
Candidates for the admission to the first semester of the Master's Degree Programme shall be required to have passed an appropriate Degree Examination of Anna University or any other examination of any University or authority accepted by the Syndicate of Anna University as equivalent thereto.

Working of the grading system

The following Letter grades and corresponding Grade Points are awarded

S-10, A-9,B-8,C-7,D-6,E-5,U-O,I-0,W-0
S is the highest and E is the lowest,  U for fail , W for withdrawal from course, I for prevention cases (shortage of attendance, which is attendance less than 75%).
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) and Grade Point
Average (GPA) are calculated (exempting U,I and W grades) by  Sum of [Credits  X Grade Points] / Sum of Credits.

Language of instruction

English is the medium of instruction for all Undergraduate, Masters degree programmes.
